PGx Test Cost

Gene by Gene provides various options to make the myDNA PGx test affordable for all patients.

Your Options

Gene by Gene believes everyone should have access to quality genetic testing services that are affordable. Therefore, we offer many options for payment.

Interest-free payment plans are available if the out-of-pocket cost of the test exceeds $100.

Insurance: Gene by Gene will bill your insurance for the cost of the test. If your out-of-pocket costs exceed $330, we will contact you prior to processing your myDNA PGx test to discuss payment options.

Medicare Advantage Covered Tests: You may be expected to cover a portion of the cost, typically $330 or less. We will call you before processing the test to discuss payment options if the amount is greater than $330.

Medicare (Part B) Covered Tests: You will have a $0 out-of-pocket cost.

Medicaid: You may have a $0 out-of-pocket cost.

Commercial or Other Insurance: Plans vary but you may be expected to cover a portion of the cost, typically $330 or less. We will call you before processing the test to discuss payment options should the amount be greater than $330.

Billing Process Breakdown

1. Sample Processing
Once your sample arrives at Gene by Gene, we will confirm your cost. If the cost of the test is more than $330, Gene by Gene will call you prior to processing your sample.

2. Billing Insurance
Once your sample is processed, Gene by Gene will submit your claim to your insurance company.

3. Receive EOB
After processing your claim, your health insurance provider will send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), typically within 50 days. Please note, the EOB is not a bill but details the amount your insurance has covered for the test.

Please note: You may receive a bill from your insurance provider for your coinsurance or deductible based on your insurance policy.

4. The Bill
Once your claim is complete, we will send you a statement that includes your balance, which can be paid online via Paypal, by phone, or via mail. Insurance processing takes time, and it will likely be several months before you receive this bill from us.
